Happy fall, Class of 2004! By the time you read this summer will be long gone, but it is summer as I write this, and I am sitting at my kitchen table at my childhood home in Maine, enjoying a stunning July day. This summer I was super fortunate to be able to go home at the end of June and stay for almost six weeks. As you’ve heard me say in the past, this is the worst time of the year to live in Houston, so an escape to Maine is just what we needed. This past year I took classes to become a postpartum doula and a lactation educator. Adding to my passions in the birth and motherhood space, I am excited to now offer these services to my birth photography clients. I am also still photographing families and have a small in-home studio space where I do portraits of children.

Jacob Wildes is pursuing another degree from his alma mater. A mechanical engineering technology student in undergrads, Jacob is adding an MBA to his credentials with the Maine Business School’s online MBA program. He lives in Pennsylvania and is manager of technical services for The Hershey Company.
Heather Bond was Heather Ernest when she stamped her name into Maine basket lore. She was recently featured in an article in the Lewiston Sun Journal about her life away from basketball and now as a mother and teacher in Massachusetts. Heather was a star athlete in Maine Class A ball in the late ’90s, going on to be a force on the UMaine team for four years. Her jersey number 11 was retired when she graduated, adding to the list of greats like Cindy Blodgett ’98, Rachel Bouchard ’91, and Liz Coffin ’88 that hangs above the court in Alfond Arena. She played professional ball in Germany for five years following college. She is now a science teacher to middle school students in Dover, MA.
Merrit David Janes has been entertaining theatre audiences for years in touring shows as well as on Broadway in NYC. He has been seen in such shows as Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney Todd, Shrek, The Wedding Singer, and most recently, School of Rock on Broadway as the lead, Dewey. I recently heard from Dave and he let me know that he just released his first solo album while on tour with the show, which, in Dave’s words, “is the first individual album by a cast member to be sold in any Andrew Lloyd Webber production.” Congrats, Dave!
