Elizabeth “Liz” Downing ’77 and Craig Joncas ’09 have been elected to three-year
terms on the UMaine Alumni Association Board of Directors.
For Downing, president of the Class of 1977, it’s a return to the Board: She previously served for several years and was asked to rejoin given her professional role as a senior official in UMaine’s Undergraduate Admissions Office. Among her many responsibilities, Downing coordinates Admissions’ Alumni Ambassadors program, which connects alumni with prospective students at local and regional recruitment events.
A professional flutist, Downing also teaches in UMaine’s School of Performing Arts. She earned two bachelor’s degrees: one in Music and one in German. She lives in Brewer with her husband, UMaine Professor Emeritus Dennis Cox.
Joncas, of Portland, is managing partner with Penobscot Financial Advisors. He actually started with the company as an intern during his senior year at UMaine. He is active in several volunteer organizations, including service as a board member of PROPEL, the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce’s organization of young professionals. Joncas earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance while at UMaine.
