Hello to all of you! I hope that your summer and fall were as pleasant as mine and this column finds you all doing well. New addresses and contact information seem to be the theme of most of the emails I have received recently. Friends, we are a class on the move.
In July Jayne Fitz Wilcox wrote to say that she and husband, Oman, had finally settled into their new modular home in East Wilton, about five miles outside of Farmington. While the couple is happy to be back in Maine, Jayne says that downsizing has been a challenge. After so many years living in our 49th state, the couple accumulated many memories and memorabilia that accompany the passing years. If any of you are planning a trip to Alaska in the near future, Jayne says she is very willing to share her knowledge of traveling dos and don’ts in our largest state. Her new email address is:

In June Jeff and Pegs Boothby Lyon sold their home in Pennsylvania with plans to move to Florida. Life got in the way of a smooth transition, with much of the summer spent in Maine, not just their usual vacation time, but also caring for Pegs’ mom and brother. In late September, with everyone on the mend, the couple finally made their way to their new home. Pegs wants friends to know that their cell phone numbers have not changed. Their new mailing address is 1063 Forest Lakes Drive, Naples, FL 34105.
Congratulations to Bill Smullen, who does not have a new address; he has a new job! In July Bill took over as CEO of advancement and strategy at Clear Path for Veterans. Clear Path is a non-profit organization serving New York’s 23 upstate counties as a one point support system for veterans and their families. As Bill put it, “Veterans everywhere need resources and support systems beyond those available in VA hospitals.” While no longer full time at Syracuse University, Bill will still be teaching courses. His 18-month commitment to Clear Path is to help find a successor and take the organization to a new level. We thank Bill for his commitment to our veterans and service men and women.
This September the Mid-Coast Alumni group sponsored a lighthouse cruise on the Kennebec River. The Class of ’62 was well represented. Classmates on board included Millie Simpson Stewart, Jayne Fitz Wilcox, Kay Fraser, Bill Lawlor, Gary Cran, Carol Lovejoy Gay, Dorothy Dickey Selleck, and Eli Karter ’68 Ph.D. All reports were that the group had a wonderful time enjoying the early fall foliage and catching up. Speaking of getting together, the class executive committee is working on an 80th birthday party for late summer. Be on the lookout for a “save the date” card. While most of us will turn 80 in 2020, do not worry if you are not quite there, we can set up a kids’ table for you lucky ones.
