Bobby Collins
Hello, Class of 2010! I hope everyone who was able to join us for Homecoming had a great time and you all are enjoying the winter!
Before attending the University of Maine, Andrew Vernon G was a veteran in the United States Army. From this experience he is familiar with the challenges many veterans face as they seek to transition into civilian life. He has made it his mission to help reverse the high rate of suicide among veterans in the United States. Andrew has seen first hand how important it is for mental health services to be readily accessible to veterans, particularly those who live in rural states like Maine.
Janelle Morin is using her finance degree in her role at the County Federal Credit Union, where she has just been promoted to branch manager in Fort Fairfield. She also spends her time volunteering with the United Way of Aroostook, the CU Campaign to End Hunger in Maine, and is the treasurer for the Star City ATV Club.
The “Model of Values Professional (MVP)” Award is a given out by the Junior Achievements national organization to an employee who has served as a role model and example of the best of Junior Achievement citizens, partners, and colleagues. This year, Michelle Anderson was awarded this honor for her work with Junior Achievement of Maine, where she serves as the organization’s president. The award was presented to Michelle at the National Leadership Conference in Colorado Springs.
On a personal note, I would like to also announce that my wife, Emma Moody Collins ’11, ’15G, and I welcomed our first baby, Nellie, into our family this past summer.
Please remember that if you or another classmate has experienced a personal or professional accomplishment or has news to share with the class, send me a note through email or social media so it can be included in a future column.
I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year!
