She has lobbied the state legislature where she co-authored two bills, has developed a hospice program at the Maine State Prison, and has co-chaired the Maine Hospice/Veteran Partnership. In 2018, Kandyce served as a visiting professor at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, where she continued her collaboration focused on humanizing health care.
Peter Brewitt ’71G of Kennebunk combined his love of flags and history by hunting for the perfect tree to use as a flagpole at his home. He found a 22-foot pine on his own land, stripped the tree's bark, dried the wood, and made the flagpole on which flies the Maine bicentennial flag, the Maine state flag, and the Maine Merchant and Marine flag.
