The year 2020 — when I submitted my last column, we had just had multiple
visitors to our National Capital Region home from around the country, and plans
for traveling and fun throughout the spring and summer were starting to come
together. All that rapidly changed in a matter of weeks and we now find ourselves
in a drastically different world with (I hope) eyes and hearts that have been
changed for the better. Our class notes are slight for this issue but I am optimistic
this finds you well.
Congratulations to Josh McLaughlin on his Paul Harris Fellow Award, an honor
from the Houlton Rotary Club. Besides his work as president of J. McLaughlin
Construction, Josh has made a huge positive impact on the Houlton community.
He established the Education Committee to help link local students with mentors
to teach them long-term skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
He also partnered with Southern Aroostook Development Corporation to promote
the Houlton Stimulus Project, which helped over 100 businesses during the virus
shutdown. Remarkable!
While we couldn’t celebrate our 15-year Reunion in quite the usual way, I hope
you took the time to fill a stein to dear old Maine in honor of our class! Here's to
the memories and to when we can be together again!
