Hi, classmates,
The world has been a crazy place and I hope this column finds you all healthy
and safe. Amidst the chaos, there is good news to share about our classmates. I
normally don’t write about myself, but I do have a personal update for this
column. I am getting married! My fiancé proposed over the summer and we are
planning an October 2021 wedding in Rowley, MA. It’s nice to have something
good to look forward to, to get us through these hard times. We can’t wait to
celebrate with our friends, family, and of course, some 2007 classmates. Now, on
to the rest of the updates.
Andrew Eldridge completed editing his first feature-length documentary, A Most
Beautiful Thing. The film narrated by Academy-Award / Grammy-winning artist
Common, and produced by former NBA All-Stars Dwayne Wade and Grant Hill,
chronicles the first all-African American rowing team from the West Side of
Chicago. The film was set to be debuted at South By Southwest and in AMC
theatres this past spring, but due to COVID-19, the film is now streaming on
Comcast On Demand, Peacock, and Amazon Prime. Andrew is the current
VP/Creative Director for Another Age Productions based in Boston, MA. He is a
eight-time Emmy Award winner and lives in Somerville, MA with his partner
Elizabeth.
Bob Williams ‘08G was recently named the vice president of finance &
technology at the University Credit Union in Orono. Bob will serve on the credit
union’s senior management team and will be responsible for accounting and
financial analytics, information technology, and facilities, among other
responsibilities. Bob has a long career in accounting and financial management
and also serves as the treasurer of the board of directors for the Bangor Humane
Society.
Herrick & Salsbury, a land surveying company in Ellsworth, has named Tara
Jeffers Hartson the new vice president of the company, including an agreement
to transfer ownership of the company to Tara as well. Tara has worked at Herrick &
Salisbury since the summer of 2006 (before we graduated!) and has held
various positions in the company over the last 14 years. Tara lives in Mount
Desert with her husband and two sons. They enjoy gardening, hiking, camping,
swimming, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
The 2020 Franklin County Teacher of the Year is classmate Melissa Hoisington
G. Melissa is an elementary school teacher at Kingfield Elementary School.
Melissa has been teaching for 25 years with a special focus on Reading
Recovery and other literacy programs. As a Maine teacher of the year, Melissa
and the 15 other county representatives will collaborate on issues in education
and work to find solutions for these issues. Melissa loves being a teacher because
of the relationships she is able to build with her students. In my opinion,
those students are lucky to have her!
