Class of 1963 Mini-Reunion
Dear Class of 1963 Members,
September 22, 2021!
That’s the day for you to catch up with your 1963 classmates on the coast of southern Maine! Join us for lunch on the deck of a converted ferry boat at the famed DiMillo’s Restaurant on the Portland waterfront. Then enjoy a delightful ferry ride to Peak’s Island, just 20 minutes off the Maine coast. Trails, tours, museums, drinks on the deck, you name it! Peak’s is a gem of the Casco Bay Islands. Then join us for a class gathering with heavy hors d’oeuvres, pizza, and drinks at the home of classmate Ron Brown ’63 and his wife Jill (135 Caleb St in Portland, ME 04102).
Enjoy the day, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy the pleasure of renewing priceless old friendships.
Following is a detailed schedule and information on the location of DiMillo’s, Ferry Landing, and the Holiday Inn. The link to register is below. Your $40 DiMillo’s fee includes lunch plus tip and tax, 3 hours of parking at DiMillo’s ($7.00 per hour over 3 hours) and part of the private room cost at the restaurant. Ferry and museum fees are pay as you go on the day of.

11:30 am- Registration/Social at DiMillo’s Restaurant,

12:00 pm- Lunch
1:00 pm- Class Meeting – A brief class business meeting and a chance for classmates to introduce themselves and describe an event or accomplishment from their life they never would have expected when they graduated from UMaine in 1963.
3:15 pm- Ferry to Peaks Island from 56 Commercial Street – 20 minute ride. Senior pedestrian fare is $3.85 round trip, parking at Ferry terminal is $5.00 per hour.
4:00 pm- Tour of the 5th Maine Regiment and Peaks Island Museum, 10 minute walk from Ferry landing. Fee is $5.00. Annual membership is $25 for an individual, $40 for a family and includes free admission for one year. Click here to learn more. The museum is staying open later than normal business hours to accommodate our class. Please express your interest on the registration form, so we can give them an appropriate headcount. There are also golf cart rentals for tours around the Island, drinks on the porch of the Harbor View Inn, and walking about.
6:00 pm- Ferry to Portland (There is also a 5:00 pm departure)
7:00 pm- Class gathering at Ron Brown’s home in Portland (About 10 minutes from the Holiday Inn)

The Holiday Inn By the Bay at 88 Spring Street (207-775-2311) is holding a block of rooms for September 21 and 22 starting at $179 per night with a no fee 48 hour cancelation policy. $10 more for a Harbor View room. Parking is $10.00 per day for hotel guests. Rooms must be booked by August 22nd to receive the discount.
