Greetings, Class of 2000! For those whom I did not get to meet in Orono (over 20 years ago!), I studied wildlife ecology and enjoyed playing in Dr. Lidral’s jazz ensemble. I now live in Mississippi with my wife, Nichole Clark Werle ’02, where I’m an entomologist with the USDA, studying a variety of horticultural pests as well as native pollinators and honey bees. We have two children and keep busy in our community, and try to make it back to Maine each summer. I hope you find some time to send a message updating us on your life!
Big news in the world of higher education, as Shontay Delalue ’03G has moved on from Brown University to become senior vp and senior diversity officer at Dartmouth College. Shontay has been coordinating education and training efforts to promote diversity on campus, including doubling the number of Brown faculty from underrepresented groups. In her new position she will report directly to the Dartmouth president and oversee the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity. Good luck in your new position!
Moving up in the world of civil engineering, Rich Dyer was promoted to principal structural engineer for Morris & Ritchie Associates. Since finishing his B.S. in civil engineering at UMaine, Rich has kept busy climbing cell phone towers, gaining licensure to practice in 12 states, and enjoying time with his wife and daughter in Maryland. Congrats, Rich!
Bryan Cook moved from Seattle to Los Angeles to work as a comedy writer for Joan Rivers, and has since gone on to write for Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the past three years! Bryan also performs stand-up; once we can get past the COVID restrictions, do yourself a favor and catch him on one of his tour dates with other hilarious comics!
Tim Cote and his wife, April, live in Scarborough, ME, with their two children. Tim, who will be celebrating 21 years with HNTB Corporation this year, serves as a vice president and department manager in their South Portland office and is responsible for overseeing transportation engineering projects throughout Maine.
Exciting news from the hardwood as Coach Amy Vachon has signed a four-year contract to remain at the helm of the women’s basketball team. Amy has had plenty of success on the court, including a 62-16 record in the America East Conference, but she’s also guided her teams to the highest GPA among their Conference opponents in three of her five seasons. “Being the head coach at my alma mater is something I take great pride in.” The feeling is mutual, Coach Vachon.
