Hello, my fellow oh-niners! I send you wishes for good vibes and good health as we head into summer and fall 2022.
Since I last wrote, I’ve done my first bit of travel since the pandemic began (to South Bend, IN), and my novel Dark Things I Adore is out in the world, living its best thriller life in hardcover, audiobook, and ebook form. The paperback will come out at the end of June, which I’m very excited about.
We are bereft of Class of 2009 updates this cycle, so I hope we can get back on the horse for the winter issue. We would LOVE to hear from you! No news is too major or too minor. Changed jobs? Send it! A new child in the family? Send it! Fostering puppies? Send it! Your ultimate Frisbee team played in a tournament? Send it! You were awarded some sort of esteemed recognition within your company or industry? Send it! You’re putting a knitting/running/cooking/wine club together in your area and would love to connect with some fellow Black Bears? Send it!
Here’s an update from Katharine Cooper Mallett: My husband Jason ’08 and I met at the University of Maine in the spring of 2007. He was studying Construction Management and I was studying Child Development and Family Relations. Jason graduated in the spring of 2008 then began his career in the state of New York while I finished my degree at UMaine and graduated in 2009. In 2010 Jason and I married in York, Maine and decided to settle down and start a family in Hampden, Maine where we still reside today with our four children. Jason works for Cianbro and I get to be home putting my degree to good use while I homeschool our kids. We often visit the University with our small crew and reminisce and we’ve enjoyed many alumni weekends back where it all started. The University of Maine will always be college of our hearts!
