Fellow Y2K classmates, we need some more newsworthy items coming in. Don’t
let those other recent class years out-scoop us! Is your family welcoming a new
child? Are you making a career move? Or establishing a new seven-figure
scholarship fund at our old school? Let us hear about it!
We all remember the excitement of our national championship days from Orono,
and a member of that awesome team is making news! Ben Guité (English and
’09 MBA) made a big life decision in leaving his professional head coaching job
with the ECHL Maine Mariners and accepting the same role at Bowdoin College.
Aside from a nice pay raise, Ben is looking forward to recruiting and developing
young student athletes. As a prior assistant coach at UMaine, Ben already has
plenty of experience with recruiting and it’s no wonder that he was the top choice
for Bowdoin athletics. “Through each step of the search process, Ben continually
impressed the committee with his deep-rooted, personal commitment to his
athletes, combined with a contagious passion for the sport,” said Associate
Director of Athletics Alice Wiercinski. Congratulations, Ben!
This past July, OTIS Federal Credit Union announced that their new CEO will be
a member of our class! Chris Bouchard (business administration and
management) has held leadership positions at investment companies and
banking institutions, making him a natural fit for this opening. “We found his
background in financial operations and history of successful leadership to be
impressive, and his community involvement and desire to help others truly
represented the qualities OTIS has always stood for,” said Duane Lake,
chairman of the board of directors. Congratulations, Chris!
For over 20 years, Drew Hews (business administration) has served his family
business, The Hews Company, a South Portland-based manufacturer and
distributor of truck equipment. Earlier this year, Drew was promoted to corporate
VP of operations, overseeing workflow, quality control, and workplace safety.
Drew represents the fourth generation of family leadership in the successful
business, which was founded in 1927. This is a rare accomplishment as only
three percent of such businesses make it to their fourth generation!
Congratulations, Drew!
Nikki Reed Jarvais (journalism) recently was promoted to senior VP, group
account director at her company, Rinck Advertising! Nikki has worked there for
about eight years, steadily advancing her career with this full-service marketing
agency based in Lewiston. Nikki lives in Windham with her husband and two
daughters, and shared this public statement of acceptance: “As the marketing
landscape continues to evolve, I’m excited to lead a team known for creativity,
strategy, and success.“ Congratulations, Nikki, I know your family is proud of you!
After announcing the retirement of their founding officers, Portland-based
Bigelow Investment Advisors named Racquel Heath Tibbetts (business administration and ’06 MBA) as a new managing partner and equity owner! This
firm is owned in part by Gorham Savings Bank, administering more than $400
million in client assets. Congratulations, Racquel!
The city of Waterville announced in March the creation of a new position,
assistant city manager, with responsibilities to include overseeing budget
processing and departments and applying for grant funds. The recipient of this
new job is William Post G (public administration), a veteran of 26 years in Maine
county and municipal governments. Part of what attracted William to Waterville is
the $11.2 million downtown revitalization project, as well as the exceptional
employees. “They’re fantastic to work with, they’re really very intelligent, they
know what they’re doing in their individual jobs.” It will be exciting to see the
advancements made in Waterville!
Sebago Technics, an engineering and land development consulting firm in South
Portland, promoted several employees this past May, including Paul Ostrowski
(engineering) as a new engineering design manager. Congratulations, Paul!
