Our classmate Eddie Zizmor writes that he is now semi-retired by merging his legal practice with the RWKD Law Group LLC in Hackensack, NJ, which is about two miles from his home. He is working about half the time he used to. He and his wife, Linda, will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2023. They have a daughter and two sons, all married, with seven grandchildren (two girls, five boys). They recently celebrated Bar Mitzvahs of two of their grandsons. Eddie says that he always had good feelings about his four years at the University of Maine. He wishes everyone all the best.
Last winter, Ken Olson donated his professional papers to Fogler Library. Ken had a long career in conservation, beginning with the Appalachian Mountain Club, where he managed the AMC’s hut system before becoming publisher and editor-in-chief of the AMC books, maps, and magazines. He also served as chief executive at the Nature Conservancy of Connecticut, American Rivers, and Friends of Acadia. Daisy Singh, UMaine dean of libraries, said, “We congratulate … [Ken] on his incredible three-decade career in conservation and are honored to safeguard his collection here at Fogler for generations ahead.”
We wish to remember our classmate, the late Norm Hevey, from Arundel, who was a member of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame, a member and past president of the Maine Golf Course Superintendents Association, and a 35-year member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America.
Mike Dann was a 2020 honoree, who was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Maine School of Forest Resources. He held positions on numerous advisory boards including the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, the Maine Forest Service, the Maine Forest Products Council, and the Forest Resources Association and helped develop the Maine Forest Practices Act. He is steward to his 150-acre tree farm in Dixmont and was a forester for the small Woodlands Owners Association of Maine Land Trust. He spent more than 35 years at Seven Islands Land Company, 16 years as woodlands manager. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Mike has made significant contributions to the forestry resource professions, as well as to the stewardship of Maine forests.
Remember to save the date: Our 55th Reunion will be held September 28-30, 2023 on campus in Orono. We hope to see you there!
