Greetings, Class of 2020! As news of you trickles back to campus, we are delighted to see your successes and to see you thrive.
Oscar Keydel has been promoted to senior surveyor at Sebago Technics, a Portland-based engineering firm. They serve greater northern New England, and Oscar (hired in 2020) has led field crews on a wide variety of survey projects.
Devin Birks was recently hired as marketing manager for the United Way of Southern Maine, a human services, community-focused nonprofit based in the Portland and Kennebunk areas.
Miranda Engstrom G was honored as Hancock County’s Teacher of the Year. She works for Lamoine Consolidated School. Her work focuses on reading recovery and gifted and talented programming.
Nicole Brown spent time as a travel nurse but now works doing homecare nursing over a wide portion of the state of Maine. Although she left travel nursing, she stresses that she continues to travel and recently returned from a trip to Egypt. She also recently got engaged! Congrats, Nicole!
In terms of travel, Seth Ordway has also been abroad. He had the opportunity to visit Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. He was recently promoted to early college counselor within the Early College Program at UMaine. He serves as the primary advisor to high school students and is a key component of the program’s outreach to high schools across the state.
Sophia Paddon addressed the incoming UMaine Class of 2027 as part of the convocation ceremony held on campus in late August. Sophia spoke about her own experience at UMaine. She worked as a paralegal in Portland after graduation and recently earned her master’s from the Muskie School of Public Service at USM.
Sonya Campbell has been working as a family visitor and mentor through KVCap/Maine Families for the past three years. She obtained her conditional social work license through the state of Maine; and will sit for the exam in 2025. She has become a nationally accredited, certified lactation counselor and a licensed Chaplain. She likes spending her free time with her three-year-old mini poodle (Ramen Poodle) and one-year-old mini donkey (Levi) on her mini farm.
