Another school year at UMaine is underway and the Class of 2027 has completed their first semester!
I received a nice email from Alison Brown Haskins, who writes that she retired from the city of Hamilton, Ohio, Public Works Department in 2014. Since then she has had more time to garden, travel, and be involved with her favorite organizations. One of those groups is the American Public Works Association, which she has been on the Ohio State Chapter board for many years, serving as an officer and on various committees, particularly the Communications Committee.
This year the Ohio Chapter nominated Alison for the 2023 APWA Exceptional Performance Award in Chapter Journalism. She has been an APWA member since 1982. Alison is a founding member of the Southwest Ohio Branch and dedicated to continuously improving Ohio’s communications efforts. Congratulations, Alison! She sends best wishes to all her classmates!
Margaret D. Honan has been inducted into the 2023 Maine Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. Margaret was Maine’s interscholastic Diving Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1998, coached eight Maine Principal Association interscholastic 1-meter champions, and five silver medalists during her coaching career at Bangor, Cape Elizabeth, Greely, South Portland, and Kennebunk. She was a three-meter New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association champion at UMaine and has coached 556 divers to scoring finishes at the MPA Championships. Congratulations, Margaret!
