Congratulations to Ernest Scheyder on his book, published by Simon & Schuster’s One Signal imprint, that is focused on the people living on the front lines of the clean energy transition. The book, titled The War Below: Lithium, Copper and the Global Battle to Power Our Lives, reveals the complex choices facing our world as competition intensifies for the building blocks of solar panels, EVs, and every other electronic device. Drawing on Ernie’s exclusive access to key players and reporting visits across the globe, the book offers a powerfully honest and nuanced picture of what is needed to fight climate change and secure energy independence, revealing how America and the rest of the world’s hunt for the “new oil” directly affects us all. As I’m writing this, the book has great reviews on Amazon, so check it out!
Zachary Smith, chief operating officer of Smith’s Farm, is now on the Presque Isle-based MMG Insurance Company board of directors. His roles at Smith’s Farm include daily operations, oversight of quality and sustainability, and other logistics. Zachary also serves as a director of Atlantic Salmon for Northern Maine and is a past director of Maine Potato Growers.
