Class of 2011 Summer 2024 Class Note

It’s summer — hope everyone is having some fun!

There’s lots of news to report, but we need your help to share it. The Class of 2011 needs a class correspondent to write this column twice a year. It’s not a tough job. Please contact abigail.zelz@maine.edu to learn about reporting the news.

Ben Delcourt is director of underwriting in the Maine region at the MEMIC Group. He began as an account analyst at MEMIC more than a decade ago and now supervises a team of underwriters.

At Brewer High School, Tanna Ross is head coach of the girls basketball team. She was previously the junior varsity coach as well as a PE teacher at the Brewer Community School.

Maria Belva G directs the Horizon Voices youth choirs in Falmouth. She works with four choirs, whose members range in age from to kindergarteners to high school seniors. The choir called Concord, which is comprised of high school singers, will travel to Spain to perform with other youth choirs this summer.

Gregory Knight is senior manager in the health care advisory practice at Baker Newman Noyes in Portland. He has been with BNN since 2011.

Benjamin Mason ’22G is seeing patients for diabetes care and management at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. He previously worked as a surgical nurse, in emergency department nursing, and as a family medicine nurse practitioner.

Also in medical news, Kendra A. Batchelder ’13G, ’23 Ph.D. has created a technology that helps assess the risk of breast cancer. She co-founded WAVED Medical with the goal of bringing breast cancer risk assessment technology to the marketplace.

Because most diagnosed breast cancer instances lack identifiable risk factors, WAVED Medical is developing an image-based risk assessment approach for breast imaging centers, which will help identify women with an elevated risk of breast cancer by analyzing their breast tissue composition on mammograms.
