Greetings, Class of 2013! This issue, Laura and I write to you from our new home in Yarmouth, ME. We are loving home ownership (though lamenting the crushing weight of debt) and are looking forward to saving those extra 15 minutes on our next trip to Orono for a visit to UMaine. All is well on our end, though we miss seeing and hearing from more of you. We want to avoid making this column our own UMaine diary; instead, we would love to hear from you and highlight the things you have going on in your lives. Accordingly, please reach out to us with an email (short or long) saying hello and filling us in on where you are, sharing any news, and helping us keep this community strong and connected. My email is richard.l.qualey@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you! In the meantime, updates:
October 2023, Ryan MacGlashing joined Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty where he is a real estate professional working out of Sotheby’s Camden office. Ryan graduated from UMaine with a degree in marine sciences and spent five years with Maine’s Department of Forestry, Agriculture, and Conservation before joining the Sotheby’s team. Please join us in congratulating Ryan on the new job!
Tobias Hrynick, who graduated with a B.A. in English and went on to get his Ph.D. from Fordham University, recently started a post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard Mahindra Humanities Center where he studies climate adaptation and vulnerability in late medieval wetlands. And though we are late on the update, in 2022 this Black Bear married a polar bear, Renee Symonds (Bowdoin ’13)! Congrats to you both!
Anthony Nuzzo recently celebrated 11 years with Generac Clean Energy. Tony is an engineering manager for the integration test team, and he has been with the company since graduating from UMaine with a B.S. in electrical engineering — can you believe it has been 11 years since we graduated?! Congratulations to Tony on celebrating this milestone!
Until next time, y’all!
