Unfortunately, Bill and I were unable to attend our 55th class Reunion, but 15 ’69 alums plus their guests attended. Serena Greene, the Class of ’69 scholarship recipient, joined our class members for lunch on Friday. At the class business meeting, ’69 alums voted to keep the current slate of officers. We thank Toni Willey Irish and Alan Hitchcock ’71G for volunteering to represent our class on the Senior Alumni Executive Committee. The class also held a Time of Remembrance for classmates who have passed since our 50th Reunion.
Classmates and guests went to Pat’s Pizza for a class dinner Friday night, and after dinner, some headed back to Buchanan Alumni House to listen to a live band. We’re glad that our alums enjoyed the 55th Reunion events.
Congratulations to Douglas Ibarguen, who was named Rotarian of the Year at the District 7790 Conference in June in Waterville. In his 49 years as a Rotarian, Doug has served as president and as secretary of the Farmington club. At the district level, he served as governor, was chair of the Foundation committee, and was a representative to the Council on Legislation. He has also taken several volunteer groups to Safe Passage in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
