We had a very lush, wet summer here in Ithaca. We are looking forward to our vacation week back in Maine coming up soon including visits with old friends. I hopefully will have news of the University of Maine get-together for the next issue of the magazine.

It was so good to receive news from Steve Wood and Robert Duquette ’76G. Steve went on after the University of Maine to complete an MBA at Northeastern. He taught business classes in the undergraduate and graduate program at Southern New Hampshire University for 20 years. For the last 17 years, Steve has been president of Work Opportunities Unlimited, an employment services company with 800+ employees, which is the largest placement firm in Maine. Steve writes a weekly blog (SteveonLeadership.com) on leadership and business. Steve and his wife, Patti, have lived in Exeter, NH, for 33 years. They have two grown children and one granddaughter, who just turned one.

Robert Duquette has retired from Ernst & Young Philadelphia, where he led their Transactions Tax Group. He has “retired” to being a full time professor of practice at Lehigh University. He is continuing to study, write, and give presentations about the implications of our rising federal debt and tax reform efforts in regional and national media. He and Kathie have been married for 40 years and have raised three beautiful children in Wyomissing, PA.

Although Mark Johnston has retired as president of Kennebec Savings Bank, he has remained very busy serving his community. He continues to work with Camp KV for Kids, the Elsie and William Viles Foundation, the Theater at Monmouth, the Kiwanis Club, and other organizations. This past January, he was awarded the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Peter G. Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award. Mark’s community service started back in high school, continued at UMO as a member of Alpha Phi Omega, and continued on to the Jaycees. This is wonderful recognition for a life of service.

I hope everyone enjoyed the wonderful summer weather with family. Love to hear news from you.
