Hi classmates:
As I write this, I’ve just returned from a Maine vacation to celebrate that landmark birthday that many of us are reaching this year. I loved showing my little boy one of the special places that his dad and I went when we were first dating as students at UMaine. I’d love to see your photos of family celebrations, a Homecoming visit, or memories of your old stomping grounds.
Many thanks to Derek Michaud, who sent this news: “After UMaine, I completed an M.A. at Bangor Theological Seminary (2001), an STM at Boston University (2003), and Ph.D. in philosophical theology also at Boston University (2015). In 2015 I began teaching courses in ethics, religious studies, and history of philosophy in the philosophy department at UMaine and it’s an honor and a pleasure to be back on campus! My book, Reason Turned into Sense: John Smith on Spiritual Sensation, was published by Peeters earlier this year. It’s a revision of my dissertation at Boston University that explores the intersection of early modern science, philosophy, and religion in the thought of the Cambridge Platonist John Smith (1618-1652).
What about the rest of you? New job? Family news? Please do share your accomplishments and your memories!
