In mid-September, the Senior Alumni Reunion took place on campus and alumni from different classes came back to join in the festivities. Fred Otto, who lives in Orono, stopped in to say hello during the gathering and represent the Class of ’56. He also visited during Homecoming in October! Thank you, Fred, for representing the Class of 1956 and continuing to stay involved with the Alumni Association.
According to the Alumni Association’s records, the Class of 1956 has 272 classmates still living. Classmates should be very proud of all that your class has given back to your alma mater, particularly the Class Scholarship Fund. For the academic year 2024-25, your 1956 class scholarship was awarded to Madison Kane, a senior majoring in animal and veterinary sciences. She is a graduate of Greenville High School in Maine. Madison is the grandchild of Walter Kane ’56.
As of September 30, 2024, the class scholarship fund principal balance was $205,404. Your class continues to make a difference on campus and to current students.
That’s all the news for now. If you have an update to share, please send it to the Alumni Association and we will include it in the next column!
Take care, everyone!
