Hello, all!
Several members of our class attended the Senior Alumni Reunion in September on campus. Helen”Duckie” Inman Boomer, Alola Giffin Morrison, Pete Hannah, Evie Stevens Smith, Judy Kittredge Carter, Don Cookson, and Susan Mullaney Cookson H enjoyed the activities.
A major event was touring the new E. James and Eileen P Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center, which was dedicated on August 24, 2022. This amazing new building will provide innovation to advance resources and development in the engineering field.
While going through the building Don, Susan, and Evie were surprised to see a room In memory of classmate Robert T. Munson ’59 given by me! Bob majored in mechanical engineering, was a Senior Skull, member of Scabbard and Blade, Phi Kappa Sigma, and was active in many other campus activities.
When Pat Cummings ’89, ’44H, senior director of philanthropy at the University of Maine Foundation, came to visit me and showed me the plans for this fantastic new engineering center, I knew Bob would want to be a part of it.
Class president Don Cookson and our 65th Reunion committee are working on suggestions for this gathering in 2024. Some of the ideas are a family event and barbecue, lunch or dinner in the Buchanan Garden, football weekend, tour of UMaine Art Center, and ’50s music. Let us know if you have any other suggestions.
Until next time — be well and happy.
