Class of 1977 Spring 2025 Class Note

Happy winter, classmates! I hope this finds you well and looking forward to a year filled with many new and wonderful adventures.

Rajendra Singh G, ’24 Hon L.H.D. and his wife, Neera Singh ’24 Hon L.H.D., received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at the UMaine commencement ceremony in May 2024. Since 2008 the Singhs have focused on investing in new telecommunication technologies and advancing education in engineering, computing, social science, business, and marketing. They continue to support generations of engineers by supplying scholarships and collaboratively offering guidance to UMaine.

Bill Wood dropped a note to announce the publication of his new technothriller, Lost Inca Gold: AI Meets Space Archaeology. The novel is set at the University of Maine where the two main characters are students, both in the Honors College, one majoring in computer science and anthropology, and the other in English. The story, however, takes the reader around the world to the Middle East and South America in search of the hidden Inca gold.

Dr. David Alex Pakulski wrote to report the passing of his twin brother, Joseph Dean Pakulski, on July 29, 2024. Dean was an accomplished scientist and teacher whose extensive career took him all over the world. He worked on research ships in the Sargasso Sea and eventually went on to do research in the Antarctic. Additionally, he was a talented musician, sculptor, pottery maker, and artist. Our sincere condolences go out to Alex and his family.

Again, I hope you all have a wonderful winter and spring. I have said it before, but it bears repeating — take time to do the things you love with those most dear to you. Cheers!
