Happy summer, everyone!
There’s news, but we need help reporting it. Please contact abigail.zelz@maine.edu about becoming the class correspondent for the Class of ’83. Writing this twice-a-year column is a simple task.
Here are a few new items:
Rick Fournier is chair of the Bangor City Council. He took over from fellow alum Dan Tremble ’87. Rick retired after a career as a commercial lender for Bangor Savings Bank and other financial institutions. He joined the city council in 2019 and noted that homelessness is a big concern for the city.
Richard Davis was surprised with a retirement party on his last day as Farmington’s town manager last fall. He served in that position for 20 years, and his colleagues noted that he always wanted to do what was best for the town.
Carl Bucciantini G of Greene, ME, and his wife, Joyce, received the 2021 Andrus Community Service Award last December. The couple have been active in their community since they retired, creating opportunities for area residents to gather and discuss topics of concern. They consider volunteering to be an essential part of being involved in their community. Carl taught in Dexter, Garland, and Exeter before becoming a school counselor in Auburn.
Please remember — the Class of 1983 needs someone to write this column, so we can share more news in the
magazine.
