We had a mild winter in most of New England, but as I get older, I find myself looking forward to warmer weather with greater eagerness each year.

Maine basketball is special to a lot of people across the state.
To a mother/daughter team it is uniquely special in that both of them are high school basketball coaches, and sometimes coach against each other!
Lynne McGouldrick Hasson coaches for South Portland High girls basketball, and her daughter Abby Hasson coaches for Portland High girls basketball. It is thought to be the only time in Maine basketball history that this has occurred. Abby is in her fourth year with Portland and Mom is in her 11th year at South Portland.
Mt. Desert Police Sgt. Leigh Guildford retired from the force last September after 38 years in law enforcement and 18 years with Mt. Desert and Bar Harbor police departments. His daughter, Rebecca Prefontaine, who is also in law enforcement, delivered his final sign-off on September 8th, 2023.

Michael O’Reilly is the new Maine regional president and president of New England for NBT Bank. Michael will lead a team of bankers based out of Portland and oversee strategy execution for the bank across New England. He brings 30 years of experience in commercial banking with Bangor Savings Bank.
Jennifer Redman Lanphear was elected president of the National Association of State Student Grant & Aid Programs (NASSGAP). Jennifer serves as education programs manager with The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME). She has been with FAME for 35 years and manages $117 million in state grant, workforce development, and private education loan funds.
