Happy 2022 to all! My wishes for a wonderful year full of all the best to you and yours.
Did you have a chance to meet up with classmates at Homecoming in October? We’d love to hear about it – what changed the most on campus, are your old favorite places still there? For those of us who were unable to be there, please share some memories. Hope you had a chance to Fill the Steins to Dear Old Maine!
Connecting with classmates is extra special to those of us who live far away. Doug Kreis emailed to share that this summer, classmate John Tardif was driving his son to Colorado State, and they stopped in Michigan for a full day of golf and a long night of storytelling. John is married to Kerry Daley ’90. Exactly 30 years ago John and Doug packed into John’s Volkswagen Jetta and spent a month in Colorado mountain biking and sleeping in a tent before they both started “real” jobs. These days, Doug is a golf professional at the Battle Creek Country Club in Michigan.
Charles Lagerbom G chronicled stories of sailing voyages through the most dangerous stretch of water on the planet in his recently published third book, Maine to Cape Horn: The World’s Most Dangerous Voyage. Charles is an author, maritime historian, and history teacher at Belfast Area High School, and lives in Northport. He’s already thinking about the subject of his fourth book, possibly shipwrecks in the Midcoast, or Maine-built ships wrecked in other areas.
