Hello, Class of ’92, I am Krishna Costello Gifford ’92, ’95G, your new class correspondent! I started my UMaine life in a triple room in Stodder Hall and then moved to Kennebec Hall. When I wasn’t in my room, you could find me taking classes in Nutting Hall, studying in the stacks inside Fogler Library, making pizza in the Bear’s Den, or cheering on the hockey team in Alfond Arena. I graduated in December of 1992 with a BS in wildlife management and an associate degree in criminal justice, followed three years later by a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in environmental policy. I put that great UMaine education to good use in a career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Now that you know more about me, I can’t wait to hear about your latest news!
The UMaine community couldn’t have asked for a better 2024 Homecoming weekend! The weather was fabulous, the men’s hockey team swept Quinnipiac, the football team beat Villanova, and there were happy Black Bear students and alums everywhere you looked. I had a great time catching up with some of my fellow ’92 classmates, including Michelle Coosard Peaco, Nicole Bouchard Schmid, and Kevin Kelley. My husband, Nat Gifford, and I took a very interesting and informative tour of the Advanced Structures & Composites Center and the BioHome3D printed house. If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out the Composites Center, we highly recommend a tour.
Larry Thomas, who pitched for the Black Bears, was inducted into the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame in October. After UMaine, Larry was drafted in the second round by the Chicago White Sox and made his major league debur in 1995.
