Hey, Class of ’92 — I hope 2022 is off to a good start for you.
Here’s some of the news — Amy Murchison Volk joined the board of directors of the Maine Policy Institute. Amy is director of communications and public relations for Volk Packaging Corporation in Biddeford. She also serves on the UMaine Alumni Association board of directors.
Sarah Leeman Belliveau was named CEO, managing principal of BerryDunn, a Portland-based accounting firm that has 667 employees and nationwide clientele. Sarah began working for BerryDunn right after graduating from UMaine with a business degree. MaineBiz interviewed Sarah in September about her role, how the pandemic affected BerryDunn employees, and the company’s growth.
Gay Anne Thurlow McDonald ’08G was recently recognized for making a difference in the lives of her students. Her career has progressed from teaching elementary school to working with students with disabilities, serving as special education director for RSU 67, and now executive director of Maine Administrators of Services for Children with Disabilities (MADSEC). MADSEC is a nonprofit organization that serves as a resource for Maine schools and agencies that serve children with disabilities.
After 46 years in education, including 24 years as principal at George J. Mitchell School in Waterville Allan Martin G retired last June. Students and teachers at the elementary school held a parade for Allan, and recited poems, created music, and presented him with cards.
The U.S. Small Business Administration named Diane Sturgeon as district director for the Maine District Office last spring. Diane has worked for the Maine SBA for nine years, most recently as deputy district director.
