Hearty Maine Hello from Northern Virginia! My family and I returned to the United
States this summer after five years living overseas in Kazakhstan and then
Germany. I just completed three years at U.S. Army Europe as a branch chief of
international military affairs. In July, I started a new position as the program
manager for combat intelligence interoperability in the ABCANZ (American,
British, Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand) Armies Program.
Congratulations to Scott Flagg on being named the head coach for the football
program at his alma mater, Brewer High School, in May. Scott served as an
assistant coach for defensive backs for Brewer the past two years, and head
coach of the middle school team the two previous seasons. He also coaches JV
boys’ basketball and JV tennis at Brewer. Scott is an occupational therapist at
Brewer Community School and the high school. He has previous varsity football
head coaching experience at Hampden Academy, where he served as an
assistant for five years. Prior to that Scott had extensive experience coaching
football and basketball at Gray-New Gloucester High School. Scott has a
master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Southern Maine.
Congratulations to Jennifer Putnam for her new position as executive director of
Waban Projects in January. Waban is a non-profit corporation organized to
develop and operate programs that promote the general welfare and education of
children and adults with developmental and other disabilities. Jennifer came to
Waban with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and the developmental
disabilities community. Most recently she served as the executive director of The
Progress Center in Norway, ME. She also serves on the boards of the Maine
Association for Community Services Providers, the Maine Developmental
Services Oversight and Advisory Board, and Community Housing of Maine.

leadership studies from the University of Southern Maine.

seeing fellow alumni back in Maine and at university events!
