Hey y’all! Greetings from Texas. As I write this, I can slowly feel that summer heat start creeping in. Before we know it, it will be 100 degrees here and we will escape to Maine for our annual trip home to see our family. I am very much looking forward to cool nights at the lake and sitting around a campfire. Not too much to report for my family. Both my husband and I have been very busy this year with our jobs, and our kids are constantly involved with sports and school activities, which they are greatly enjoying.
We’re a little light on class news, but I am very excited to announce some extremely well-deserved honors for two individuals. The first is a former grad school colleague from our higher ed days at UMaine. Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock G, University of North Carolina Wilmington professor of communication studies and performance studies, was recently selected by the UNC board of governors to receive a 2024 Award for Excellence in Teaching. Julie has been doing wonderful things with her interdisciplinary teaching since joining the UNCW faculty in 2010. Congrats, Julie! This is such a well-deserved award. The next name will be recognizable by anyone who listens to Maine Public Radio. Who doesn’t know the unmistakable voice of Lou McNally, Ph.D.? Lou was inducted into the Maine Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in the fall. He tells me that he is still broadcasting the weather on Maine Public Radio in the mornings. Congratulations, Lou!
As always, please do not hesitate to email me if you would like to share your life events. I love hearing from you!
