Hello, classmates! I hope the summer months are treating you well and you are finding the time to enjoy the warmth and sun. Winter will be here again before we know it. There is limited news to share this time around. Please send updates for the next column! Your classmates would love to know what you’ve been up to over the years.
Matthew Foster has been hired as the new principal at Loranger Memorial School in Old Orchard Beach, part of RSU 23. Before becoming a principal, Matthew was an eighth-grade science and math teacher, a math teacher at Noble High School in North Berwick, and most recently the assistant principal at Newmarket Junior/Senior High School in New Hampshire. Matthew’s ultimate goal is to become a superintendent of schools. Matthew is married to classmate Caitlin Sanborn Foster, who is a third-grade teacher in York, ME. They have two children and enjoy being outdoors, especially camping and going to the beach. Congratulations, Matthew!
Mary McDonagh Placzkowsky has been hired as an assistant professor of athletic training at William Woods University in Fulton, MO. After graduating from UMaine, Mary continued her education by earning a master’s degree in sports science from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate in athletic training from the University of Idaho. Before being hired at William Woods, Mary held teaching positions as an adjunct professor at the University of Montana Western in Dillon, MT, and Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, IN. She also was previously an athletic trainer at the University of Montana Western and Tufts University. Congratulations, Professor Placzkowsky!
That is all the news for now. Enjoy the rest of the summer and fall! You’ll hear from me again in the winter.
