Greetings, Class of 2010! I hope everyone enjoyed the summer.
Every year the Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC), an organization for PR professionals, holds an event to honor recipients of their Professional Achievement Awards and Golden Arrow Awards. One recipient this year was Shane Perry G, who received the President’s Award. Shane is a web content administrator at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. He was chosen for the award by MPRC president Linda Varrell as a member who has shown a commitment to the organization and because of his leadership and excellence in the public relations field.
Another classmate who has seen success in her field of work is Nicole Rogers. Nicole recently joined the faculty of the University of Maine at Fort Kent in their forestry department. After graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in forest ecosystem science and conservation, she went on to Oregon State University to earn a Master’s in sustainable forest management. As a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Vermont, she will bring a wealth of knowledge along with her real world experience to UMFK.
The Maine Business School continues to be a great resource for students and recent graduates by holding information and networking sessions with Maine professionals. In a recent session, Matt Colpitts was an alumnus participant giving valuable advice to the undergraduates in attendance. Matt is the deputy state treasurer for the state of Maine. Participating in events such as these is a great way for graduates of the University of Maine to give back to the university and help future generations of students.
If anyone has anything for me to add in future columns please let me know and I will put it in the next column. Until then, I hope to see everyone at Homecoming this fall!
