Greetings, Class of 2010, I hope everyone had a happy and enjoyable winter and is excited about the warmer weather.
Please remember that if you or another classmate have experienced a personal or professional accomplishment or have news to share with the class, send me a note through email or social media so it can be included in a future column.
Every year the Maine Department of Education honors a public school teacher as the “Maine Teacher of the Year.” The winner is chosen to represent the thousands of excellent educators across the state and serve as an advocate for the profession. In October, the Maine Department of Education announced that the 2018 Teacher of the Year was 2010 classmate Kaitlin David Young. Kaitlin graduated magna cum laude with a degree in music education before later receiving her master’s degree from the Hartt School in Hartford, CT. She currently teaches general music and choral music in SeDoMoCha Elementary School in Dover-Foxcroft.
Taylor Made Homes — Taylor Construction built its first home in 1976 and has grown over the years, eventually building commercial properties as well. Last summer, the original owner sold the successful company to Adam Cote. Adam graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in construction management and has held jobs with Sargent, Cianbro, and most recently as the code enforcement officer for his hometown of Wilton.
Congratulations to everyone for their successes in their professional lives and thank you for continuing to make the University of Maine proud. Like I mentioned at the beginning, please let me know if there is any news I should include in future columns.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun spring and summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the University of Maine for Homecoming in the fall!
