Hello, classmates, hope you all are doing well! This is my first time writing our Class of 2010 column, and I’m excited to share some news from our classmates with you. I’ll introduce myself as well — I’m Ashley Nemer Twombly and I majored in mass communications.
Our first year I lived in Androscoggin Hall, second year in Hancock, and our third year in Oak Hall. I played intramural basketball, some soccer, and a little ultimate frisbee. I had a few jobs on campus: Athletics event staff, Athletics business office, the Collins Center for the Arts box office, and at Bear Necessities. I absolutely loved my time at UMaine!
I now live in Bangor with my husband, three-year-old daughter Olivia, and our two dogs. I have still been coming to campus every day for the last eight and a half years as I am the director of alumni programs at the UMaine Alumni Association. It’s a wonderful experience to be on our beautiful campus and to work with UMaine alumni every day!
I’ve heard from a few of our classmates who have made lives together or with a fellow Black Bear. Chris Gauvin and Mackenzie Davis Gauvin ’11 have been married for eight years and live in Auburn, ME, with their two-year-old daughter, Drew. Chris and Mackenzie were good friends with Justin Dionne back in college and now they spend lots of time with him and his fiancée, Caitlyn Robitaille Gallagher. Justin has a five-year-old son and Caitlyn has two girls, ages five and seven. The group enjoys going to concerts, spending time on the boat on the lake, and reminiscing about UMaine of course!
Kristy Yeaton let me know that her successful band, Vices Inc., has been releasing albums, playing shows in and out of state, and gaining thousands of listeners on Spotify. Can’t wait to bring you more news on this up-and-coming band!
Lisa Tripp was named the York County Teacher of the Year in May of this year. She teaches sixth grade science at Bonny Eagle Middle School in Buxton. Congratulations, Lisa!
Alexis Souhlaris McNichols was named to the UMaine Sports Hall of Fame this year as well at a ceremony that took place in September. She was an outfielder-second baseman who also pitched, and she held school records for hits in a season, hits in a career, stolen bases in a season, and stolen bases in a career! She had an amazing athletic career at UMaine and this honor was greatly deserved!
A couple of our classmates have received recent promotions at their jobs. Drew Blaney was promoted from a senior executive to an officer at R.M. Davis in Portland, ME. He is now vice president of finance. Jennifer Corthell was also promoted to an officer level at Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution. Congratulations to both Drew and Jennifer!
The Graduate School of Business at the University of Maine held its annual MaineMBA Alumni Awards and Business Forum event in March of 2023 where Jane Tyler Rankin ’16G was honored with the Outstanding Accounting MBA Alumni Award. She is the director of finance at Verrill.
Carl Skilling let me know that he is enjoying his job at the AZEK company as the area sales manager in Maine. He lives in Auburn, ME, with his wife and two girls.
