Tony Sutton G, ’20 Ph.D. recently joined UMaine’s Native American Programs and Cooperative Extension as assistant professor of Native American food systems. Tony has studied and worked on rebuilding Native foodways in Maine. He was a community food facilitator at the Maine
Shellfish Learning Network, where he created a role “that was not dictating the course of the work but supporting the development of that coming from the community.” Tony will continue building relationships with people in Wabanaki communities through his position, while also having the opportunity to teach and mentor students.
