Greetings, Class of 2013! Remember those fall days on campus—walking to class, leaves crunching with each step; tossing a frisbee on the mall; exploring the trail system; cheering on your fellow Black Bears as they took the field? We do! Homecoming was a fun chance to catch up with friends and classmates, tour some facilities (new and old), cheer on the hockey, football, and soccer teams, and much more.
Speaking of athletics, Tyler Walsh, who appeared in one of our recent columns, continues to advance in his coaching career. He was recently named head coach of the Gustavus Adolphus College ice hockey team in St. Peter, MN. As you may recall, Tyler spent the past six seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Colby College. He is also the son of the late Shawn Walsh, legendary head coach of UMaine men’s hockey. Congratulations, Tyler, and good luck this season!
In other news, Tiller and Rye, a natural foods store and café in Brewer, ME, was one of several winners of this year’s Small Business Administration annual awards. Co-owned by classmate Sarah Marble Morneault, the store has won additional awards from the Bangor Regional Chamber of Commerce and City of Brewer since opening in 2015. Tiller and Rye is a perfect place to visit while you’re in the area for Homecoming!
Until next time, friends! Hope everyone has a fun and adventurous Maine winter. As always, please reach out with any news and updates about yourself or others from the Class of 2013.
