Greetings, Class of ’16 —
Spencer Emerson is Falmouth High School’s varsity football coach. He previously was part of the coaching staff at Bates College, Georgetown University, and the University of Chicago. After working out of state, Spencer said he wanted a better work/life balance and returned to Maine, where he became assistant director of undergraduate admissions at the University of New England.
Congratulations to Edith Berger G, who was named Lincoln County Teacher of the Year in 2023. Edith teaches writing and social studies at Miller School in Waldoboro, ME, which includes pre-K through sixth grade.
During the Special Olympics State Summer Games in Orono in June 2023, Kirsha Jo Finemore helped to screen athletes for hearing loss. Kirsha is chief audiologist for Waldo County General Hospital. The president and CEO of Special Olympics Maine noted that “People with intellectual disabilities are 50-60 percent less likely to get the health care they need, so it’s really critical for us to help provide and expand their access to vital support services.”
In Farmington, Amanda Robbins ’19G is part of the clinical nutrition team at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She works with all ages and disease states though she specializes in pediatric and maternal nutrition.
David Patrick ’19G was profiled in Portland Monthly Magazine last year as part of a series called “Very Intriguing Mainers.” In it, he discussed his upbringing in Orrington, social work, being a dad, urban gardening, and his experiences as a person of color in Maine.
The Class of ’16 still needs a volunteer to write this column. Please contact the Alumni Association or email abigail.zelz@maine.edu to become the class correspondent.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
