Hello, Class of 2019 alumni! I saw the need for a class correspondent and thought I would try it. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Cindy Lambert (also 96G). My history with UMaine goes way back. I was a TA in the zoology department during my first graduate degree experience at UMaine and earned an MEd in science education. After many years teaching middle school science and math at Trenton Elementary School, I went back to UMaine to get an MEd in instructional technology. Now, I am a technology integrator at Mount Desert Elementary School in Northeast Harbor. I return to campus often with my students and to visit. I have two Black Bears of my own! My son, Matthew, graduated in
2020 with a civil engineering degree. My younger son, Noah, is in the 2025 class for computer engineering. I live in Bar Harbor with my husband, Jim.
Now to catch up on some class news. Liam Reading, who majored in studio art, has opened a tattoo and art studio in Brewer, called Sons of Loki. Check out Liam’s artwork and creations at Sons of Loki on Facebook and Instagram. Shana Youngdahl G, ’21G is a poet and author who teaches writing at the University of Maine at Farmington and directs the Longfellow Young Writers' Workshop. As Many Nows as I Can Get is her debut novel and a Seventeen Best Book of the Year, a New York Public Library Top Ten Best Book of the Year, and a Kirkus Best Book of the Year.
