Happy summer, everyone. Here are some updates from classmates:
Honors College highlights:
Samuel Varga was hired by Stephens, a privately held financial services firm in southern Maine. Lauren Ryan is now the senior program assistant at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC. She says, “I am passionate about making science education more equitable and accessible for students of all ages and am excited to work alongside other dedicated individuals.” Patrick Groening G is the database coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned his graduate certificate in GIS in 2021.
College of Education and Human Development:
Seth Ordway taught at Hermon Middle School and then was hired by the University of Maine’s Early College program, where he now advises and assists high school students in accessing college courses. Dakota Cates-Wright is teaching English at Old Town High School. Jarod Webb is also teaching English but at Orono High School.
College of Engineering:
Henrick Malpica was hired as a business analyst with Trimble PPM in Windsor, CT. Ali Bessette was promoted this year as a senior associate manufacturing engineer at Elanco in Winslow, ME. Abigail Farrin is working for EnviroLogix supporting the agriculture industry through the production and testing of GMO and mycotoxin products. Spencer Sansouci was hired as a 3D printer technician at the UMaine Advanced Structures and Composites Center in 2021.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences:
Gabriela Reyes Jusino was hired by Somerville High School as a college advisor in their BU College Advising Corps. She was recently asked to be a speaker at the annual College Advising Corps Virtual Assembly. Xander Karris started his own business, Hestia Media LLC. He recently started full time work as a Next Generation Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors in Bangor and is also pursuing his graduate degree in business. Jennifer Munson is the operations manager at the Cole Land Transportation Museum and working on her MA in history.
College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture:
Alison Bartlett is the quality assurance analyst at Anheuser-Busch. Luciano Fiore has joined the Army National Guard. Dhakiya Hinton is pursuing her graduate degree in international relations at Northeastern University.
