Hello, Class of 2022! I am still working through the backlog of news that was sent in since we graduated, so I will begin with that:
Carol Kiesman G became the new principal of Cape Cod Hill School in New Sharon, ME. Carol grew up in Aroostook County, attending the University of Presque Isle for undergrad, University of Southern Maine for her master’s, and then completed her doctorate in Orono in 2022.
Luke Tyler Horanski G received the U40 Award at the MaineMBA Alumni Awards and Business Forum in March of 2023. At the same event Nicole Ann Pelletier ’21, ’22G received the Dean’s Award.
Grace McGouldrick ’24G joined UMaine as a graduate assistant coach alongside Jordan Fitzpatrick ’11 for UMaine softball.
Sarah Zachariason was selected for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program, a prestigious teaching exchange program managed by the government of Japan.
Sydney E. Meader was spotlighted by her former high school, Boothbay Region High School (BRHS), for playing field hockey at BRHS and then at the collegiate level at UMaine.
Michael C. Godin is a patrol deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Michael is originally from Connecticut, and at UMaine studied economics and environmental science.
Two UMaine graduates, Josh Hamilton ’21, ’22G and Rad Mayfield ‘22Ed.D., seem to have pushed each other towards success. Dr. Mayfield, Josh’s 10th grade biology teacher, noticed that Josh was a smart kid in class, but needed an extra push to excel. Josh credits Mayfield with his drive to get his undergraduate degree at UMaine in 2021, his master’s in 2022, and pursue a Ph.D., and Mayfield earned his Ed.D. in 2022.
Amy Watson-Preston G is the principal of Summer Memorial High School. Amy is also currently enrolled in a doctorate program for educational leadership.
Class of 2022, if you have any news or know of any accomplishments, please feel free to reach out to either to me or the UMaine Alumni Association for a feature in our next edition!
