Members of the University Of Maine School of Nursing Class of 1965 celebrated their 50th class reunion on Saturday, August 29, with a porch party at the summer home of Linda Atherton Hacket on Little Diamond Island in Casco Bay, followed by dinner at DiMillos in Portland.
Traveling from Colorado, Massachusetts, and many parts of Maine, the group of women boasts distinguished nursing, midwife, nurse practitioner, and teaching careers. More than half of the original class of 16 received advanced degrees and all attribute their successes to the excellence of their education at the University of Maine. The close-knit group of 16 nursing students did most of their clinicals in Bangor, with pediatrics and obstetrics in Portland, and their psychiatric rotation at Boston State Hospital in Mattapan.
Attendees from left to right: Patricia Weith Field, Karen Bates White, Anne Clossen, Roberta Ellis Martino, Muriel Bolduc Parks, Doris Jalbert Wheaton, Linda Atherton Hackett, Mary Lamoreau Diaz, Caroline “Callie” Stone Zilinsky, and Sharon Christy Cochran. Absent from photo was Karen Helliwell Toner.
