Six members of UMaine’s Climate Change Institute helped set three Guinness World Records during the 2019 National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet Everest Expedition. The three records were for:
- The highest altitude ice core sample taken;
- Highest altitude microplastic found on land; and
- Highest altitude weather station on land.
UMaine Climate Change Institute Director Paul Mayewski was the expedition’s scientific and expedition lead. A previously recorded Zoom webinar about the expedition is available here.
